Interiors
Interiors rooted in the seasons and shaped by the past.
Interiors are the foundation of Dakotah Joy Studio — the pillar from which our creative vision has grown.
Guided by the rhythms of the seasons, the richness of the natural world, and an enduring appreciation for the past, we create spaces that feel layered, collected, and deeply personal. Earthy materials, storied details, and a sense of quiet luxury come together to create environments that feel timeless yet entirely their own.
From focused room transformations and collaborative guidance for the hands-on homeowner to comprehensive residential restorations, new builds, and commercial spaces, our approach is thoughtful, intuitive, and rooted in creating spaces that only grow more beautiful with time.
What we offer
Service offerings
Every project is unique in its needs, scale, and level of involvement. Our design offerings are thoughtfully tailored to meet each project where it is, with scope and services shaped around your space, vision, and goals. Because no two projects are alike, each is individually priced based on the specific needs and scope of work.
- 01
Focused Design
Focused Design is tailored to a single room or space that needs a clear, cohesive vision. Whether remodeling a kitchen or bath or refreshing a bedroom or living space, we develop the design through thoughtfully selected finishes, furnishings, lighting, color, wallpaper, and other details specific to your space.
- 02
Comprehensive Design
Comprehensive Design is for full-home remodels and restorations that call for a thoughtful, cohesive vision. From establishing the initial design direction and spatial plan to selecting architectural details, materials, finishes, fixtures, and furnishings, we create a clear roadmap to guide the home through each stage of the design process.
For restoration projects, we look to the home’s history and original character as our foundation — preserving what deserves to remain while thoughtfully reimagining the spaces for the way they are lived in today.
- 03
New Build Design
The most thoughtful homes are designed from the inside out. Bringing an interior designer onto your team from the beginning allows us to collaborate with your architect and builder as the floor plan takes shape — considering how each room will function, flow, and ultimately be lived in before plans are finalized. From spatial planning and architectural details to materials, finishes, fixtures, and furnishings, we help create a cohesive vision from the ground up, ensuring every decision made along the way supports the home as a whole.
- 04
Commercial Design
A well-designed commercial space is an investment in both your business and the experience of those who enter it. From restaurants and cafés to boutique office spaces and hospitality environments, we design with careful consideration for function, flow, and the way people naturally move through and experience a space. Through thoughtful space planning, materials, finishes, lighting, and furnishings, we create environments that feel intentional and true to your brand — enhancing the customer experience, supporting day-to-day operations, and adding lasting value to your space.

Furnishing
Complete your space with a considered selection of furniture, lighting, rugs, and accessories. Our furnishing service brings the interior design vision to life through carefully sourced pieces that complement the architecture, reflect your personal style, and create a cohesive, comfortable, and beautifully finished space. From sourcing and selection through to the final styling, we take care of the details so your home feels thoughtfully designed and ready to enjoy.

InquireQuestions
FAQs
How do I know which design service is right for my project?
Whether you’re refreshing a single room, restoring an entire home, building from the ground up, or designing a commercial space, we’ll help determine the level of design support that best fits your project during the inquiry process.
How much does interior design cost?
Every project varies in scale, complexity, and level of involvement. Our services are individually priced based on the scope and needs of your project. Following an initial consultation, we’ll provide a tailored proposal outlining our recommended services and design fees.
When should I bring an interior designer into my project?
As early as possible — especially for new builds, remodels, and restorations. Early involvement allows us to consider floor plans, function, flow, architectural details, and material selections before important decisions are finalized.
Do you work with architects, builders, and contractors?
Yes. For larger projects, collaboration with your architect, builder, contractor, and other trades is an important part of creating a cohesive design and keeping the vision consistent throughout the project.
Can you design just one room?
Absolutely. Our Focused Design offering is intended for individual spaces, whether you’re remodeling a kitchen or bath or refreshing a bedroom, living room, or other space through furnishings, finishes, lighting, wallpaper, and styling.
Do you take on historic homes and restoration projects?
Yes. We approach restoration with respect for the history and character of the home, thoughtfully preserving the details worth carrying forward while adapting the space for the way you live today.
What happens after I inquire?
Once we receive your inquiry, we’ll begin with a consultation to learn more about your space, vision, needs, and overall project scope. From there, we’ll create a tailored proposal outlining the recommended services and design fees. Once the proposal is approved and our contract is signed, the design process begins.
Depending on the scope of your project, the design roadmap typically moves from initial concepts and space planning into design development, where we refine materials, finishes, fixtures, furnishings, and architectural details. From there, we finalize selections and specifications, prepare the necessary design documentation, and guide the vision into implementation — ensuring each decision feels considered, cohesive, and true to the overall direction of your space.
Where do you take on projects?
We are based in Vancouver, Washington, taking on projects around the Portland Metro Area and throughout the Pacific Northwest. We are open to travel for projects.
